چکیده

During a prokaryotic diversity study in Añana Salt Valley, new Rhodobacteraceae member, designated ASV31T, was isolated from Santa Engracia spring water. It extremely halotolerant, tolerating up to 23% NaCl, and facultatively alkaliphilic, growing at pH 6.5–9.5 (optimum 7.0–9.5). The isolate Gram-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic non-motile bacterium that formed beige-to-pink colonies on marine agar. According 16S rRNA gene-based phylogenetic analysis, strain ASV31T forms distinct branch of the family Rhodobacteraceae, with Thioclava pacifica DSM 10166T being its closest type (95.3%). This confirmed phylogenomic tree values ANI (73.9%), dDDH (19.3%), AAI (63.5%) POCP (56.0%), which were below genus/species level boundary. Additionally, an ability degrade aromatic compounds biosynthesise secondary metabolites suggested by genome ASV31T. Distinguishing fatty acid profiles polar lipid content also observed. size 3.6 Mbp, DNA G+C 65.7%. Based data obtained, it considered (=CECT 30309T = LMG 32242T) represents species genus for name Anianabacter salinae gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed.

A novel alkaliphilic bacterium, strain 4CAT, was isolated from decomposing wood taken from the shore of Soap Lake, a saline, alkaline lake in Grant County, WA, USA. Cells of the isolate were Gram-negative, asporogenous, short, motile rods that utilized only a limited range of organic acids as sole carbon and energy sources. In addition to oxygen, the strain possessed the ability to reduce in th...

Alkaliphilus transvaalensis gen. nov., sp. nov., an extremely alkaliphilic bacterium isolated from a deep South African gold mine.

A novel extreme alkaliphile was isolated from a mine water containment dam at 3.2 km below land surface in an ultra-deep gold mine near Carletonville, South Africa. The cells of this bacterium were straight to slightly curved rods, motile by flagella and formed endospores. Growth was observed over the temperature range 20-50 degrees C (optimum 40 degrees C; 45 min doubling time) and pH range 8....

Strain LBB3(T) isolated from Bogoria soda lake in Kenya is an alkaliphilic, Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, non-motile, spore-forming bacterium. It was identified as a member of the genus Bacillus on the basis of phenotypic and phylogenetic analyses. The organism grows optimally at 37 degrees C and pH 10. The G+C content of the genomic DNA is 37.5 mol%. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed 9...
